The people of Madinah wanted to make Abdullah ibn Abi their king. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to Madinah, the kingdom of Abdullah ibn Abi would be in danger. He had a heartfelt enmity towards the Muslims, but since the man was wise, Hidden then Quraysh joined hands with Makkah and started inciting the people of Madinah against the Muslims openly.

 After the conquest of Badr, he was attracted to the Muslims and converted to Islam. Abdullah ibn Abi was called the great hypocrite, so his apparent conversion to Islam was of no use to him. The polytheists were still based on polytheism and were enemies of the Muslims. He also advised them to openly convert to Islam. He was making them the leaders and leaders of such people. This group is called the group of hypocrites. They also began to benefit by becoming Muslims.
