Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) appointed me to protect and guard the Zakat of Ramadan, ie Sadaqah al-Fitr, one night. Someone came to me and took the grain with both hands. I grabbed him and said, "I will take you to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said, "I am in need. I have a burden of children and I am in dire need." Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I left him when it was morning. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: O Abu Hurayrah, what did your prisoner do last night? Or the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) complained about the burden of his children, so I felt sorry for him and I left him. Or the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: He lied to you. He will come again. He said that because of this instruction I was sure that he would come again so I kept watching him and he came and both I grabbed him by the hand and said, 'I will take you to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).' He said, 'Leave me alone.
